So let’s deal with this anxiety thing once and for all. It can be something that can dictate the quality of each day, hence your life. (Am I nervous today? Is my heart racing? Is my head buzzing and foggy? Are my thoughts running WILD in my head with the things that haven’t gone how I wanted, are not going how I want, and might now go how I want in the future???) Man that can feel like a ton of bricks!!! Believe me, I know…I was there. For me it was going through divorce and all the uncertainty that goes with it….family, children, dealing with people’s opinions who never walked in my shoes, finances, new responsibilities, feeling alone etc. But that was just my gift…you have your own. Gift??? Did she say GIFT?!?! Wtf??? Yes I did. Was it HORRIBLE going through it? Yes. And to be honest, even though I “knew” it was so much because of my own thoughts…I beat myself up even MORE because I was supposed to “know better” and had a really hard time letting go and focusing on the positive. BUT the good news is I figured it out…and it was a gift because I could have talked about this stuff all I want, but actually going THROUGH it added another depth/layer of understanding. I didn’t DIE..I got through….big time, enough to be able to totally share what I did to help you the best way I can to lessen your anxiety/stress…..so yes it was a gift, because I learned and can now pass it on….to you:) This was my life lesson #1….”How to Free Yourself!”
OK so how is this done? Let’s get to it. It’s actually pretty straight forward. First, ask yourself how many more days, weeks, months, YEARS are you into torturing yourself? Because the years can go by pretty fast…and who wants their future filled with anxiety?? What a waste! Not me, no way….that’s way too painful! And for arguments sake I’m going to assume you’re not into that either…agreed?? Agreed! (But hey, you might be into torture…who am I to judge, and if you are, you sooooo don’t have to read the rest of this:) But if you’re not here’s what I invite you to do:
(Disclaimer: Yes, I know there are a lot of emotions wrapped up in all the people and circumstances in your life, but I’m talking to the people who have had enough and NEED PEACE once and for all! 🙂
Now here we go….TAKE your pen and CROSS OFF the things on the list that you CANNOT control. Something or someone didn’t turn out how you thought it/they would? Well if it’s already done, it’s already done. Cross it off. It’s in the past. You’re worried about what people think of you and what they are saying? You can’t control that. Cross it off. You’re worried about not having a partner? Well guess what, although one can show up at any time, they are not here yet. Cross it off. You’re having to take care of someone ill? Well, if you agreed, cross it off.
I hope you actually did the above and didn’t just read it…because this is what I did and it changed everything:) I can see so much more clearly, my heart stopped racing, I started to be able to FEEL all I have to be grateful for. And most importantly, I found peace:) And my wish for you… is that you find it too:)
In my next letter to you, you know that stuff that has hurt and that you cannot control and that you crossed off? Well what if we can “re-define” those things in a way that actually served you for the better? That’s what you’ll learn how to do in my next letter to you:)
