Have you ever felt trapped? Like in a cage? Feeling the pressure of life…daydreaming what it would feel like to feel free? (I have.) Well the good news is that freedom is a state of mind that you can attain no matter where you are in life. The trapped feeling is usually caused by pushing against something that you don’t want and that’s not going to change anytime in the near future. As I have said before in prior letters, decide what you can and cannot control. If you CAN control it, then stop stressing over it and DO something about it! If it’s something you cannot control then accepting that it is what it is for now, for the time being, can set you free!
You can get to the feeling of freedom through acceptance. So what do I mean by acceptance? I mean accepting that this is some kind of process that you need to go through in order to have a deeper understanding of yourself, of people….of life. While you’re going through it, it might not make any sense at the time, and the pain sucks. But I invite you to jump ahead to your future self and ask that future self to look back at the situation you are in now. I know you might have not wanted the situation you are in, but ask your future self: Why did I need to go through that? What did I have to learn? How did I change for the better? How was that a gift? If you can dig down deep and be honest with yourself about the answers (because they are there), you can bring those answers back to the present and accept the experience. In accepting the experience, you can free yourself from the pressure and the stress of not wanting things to be how they are for the moment. And that my friend , puts you on the road to freedom 🙂
